The Bridgton Water Company was incorporated in Maine by Chapter 318 of the Acts of 1901. Winford M. Staples, Albion H. Burnham, Fred C. Knight, C.E. Gleason, and W.L. Haskett of Bridgton, and E.E. Goodwin, Willis E. Sanborn and Charles A. Bodwell of Sanford were the original corporators. The company was authorized to supply water to the residents of Bridgton. The charter of the company was amended by Chapter 2 of the Acts of 1902 to authorize the company to acquire the property of the Bridgton & Harrison Electric Company and to change its name to the Bridgton Water and Electric Company. The company was sold to the Western Maine Power Company in 1923; Western Maine became part of Central Maine Power Company in 1927.
