Hutchinson, Charles S.
Variant namesCharles W. Hutchinson, a commission merchant of Utica, New York, collected furnishings and art objects in New York City and Europe. His father, Holmes Hutchinson (d. 1865), an engineer, was involved with construction of the New York State Canal, was president of the Oswego and Syracuse Railroad Company, and was a director of the Ontario Steamboat Company. Holmes' brother, Edwin Hutchinson, was a student and faculty member at Yale University. The Hutchinsons were related to the Dillon and Lintner families.
