Miriam Kline was born around 1930, the daughter of Paul D. and Gertrude Kline of White Plains, New York. She had at least four siblings: Dorothy, Paul, Robert, and Mildred. During World War II, she lived in Manhattan, New York, where she worked for the American Surety Company. She corresponded with United States servicemen in several branches of the armed forces throughout the war.
