John Hawkins was a Sergeant Major in the 2nd Canadian Regiment of the Continental Army under the command of Colonel Moses Hazen from January 1 1776 to June of 1783. It acquired the name of "Congress' Own Regiment" since Congress itself was responsible for its supplies and maintainence.
