Continental Loan Office (Mass.)
Nathaniel Appleton was the first commissioner of the Continental Loan Office for Massachusetts in Boston (later known as the Massachusetts Loan Office of the U.S. Bureau of the Public Debt). Appleton served until his death in 1798.
