Variant namesMurray Tinkelman was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933 and attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School and Cooper Union in New York. He has been the associate chairman of the Department of Illustration at the Parsons School of Design since 1962 and has illustrated a number of children's books. He has won numerous awards for his work. He says that illustration is his "passion" and that he has been influenced by everyone from A. Durer to Walt Disney.
