From 1888 to 1910, serials accession records were titled "Record of Periodicals." Starting Oct. 5, 1909, Librarian W. N. C. Carlton introduced a new format for serials, periodicals, and continuations recordkeeping. The Carlton cards, 1910-1930, are bound in volumes titled "Serial Record."
