Merriam, George, 1803-1880
Variant namesPublisher who, along with his brother Charles, purchased the unsold copies of the 1841 edition of Webster's Dictionary, revised it and was credited with popularizing and democratizing the dictionary. It became known as Merriam Webster Dictionary.
