Markle, A. R. (Augustus Robert).
A.R. Markle was a historical and genealogical researcher from Terre Haute, Indiana who photographed old, existing buildings in Terre Haute. He also recorded histories of the locations, dates of construction or occupancy, and accounts of the occupants. Juliet Peddle, an architect on some of the remodeling of buildings in Terre Haute, created the pencil drawings which accompany some of the photographs. At one time, she was one of only two registered architects in the State of Indiana.
