Jesten, Thorfin, 1882-1959,
Immigrant from Kristiansand, Norway. Moved from Moorhead, Minn. to Casselton, N.D. circa 1888. Office boy for Amenia and Sharon Land Co., tutored by Mrs. Chaffee. Later worked various jobs as laborer, primarily for the railroad. Hired by Great Northern Railroad as engineer 1904, railroad engineer in U.S. Army during World War I.
