Born in Andalusia, Alabama, enlisted in U.S. Army, August 1917, and assigned to 167th Infantry Regiment, 42nd (Rainbow) Division. Sent to France in November 1917, wounded in July 1918, returned to U.S. and discharged in February 1919. Earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1924. Employed as a dairy inspector by the Alabama State Health Dept. and U.S. Public Health Service, 1924-1943. Taught veterinary medicine at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, 1942-1953.
