Whitaker, William Ritchie.
William R. Whitaker was reared in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, coming to New Orleans with Union troops in 1862. He was appointed in 1880 as criminal court judge in Orleans Parish. The collection indicates that he had interest in, and connections to, various freemason lodges.
