Keyes, Keiko Mizushima, 1939-1988.

Keiko Mizushima Keyes was born in Japan and studied at Sarah Lawrence College. After graduation, she married Roger Keyes, a dealer in prints and drawings, and worked with him in his business. She returned to Japan in 1966 to develop her skills as a conservator of works of art on paper. She was one of the first to apply Japanese conservation techniques to western art works. She continued to do research in this field, wrote books and articles about conservation techniques, and taught in conservation programs. She also started her own conservation business, K.M. Keyes, Inc. She served as a consultant to institutions in the United States and Europe. Mrs. Keyes died in 1988.
