Seibels, George G. (George Goldthwaite), 1872-1956.

Seibels was the son of Emmet and Annie (Goldthwaite) Seibels, and rose to the rank of rear admiral in the U.S. Navy. He was born in 1872 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., Ala., attended preparatory schools in Montgomery and Va., and in 1896 was given a commission in the paymaster corps. He served under Admiral George Dewey in the battle of Manila Bay in the Spanish-American War, rising there to the rank of captain and position of paymaster. On 1907 May 7 he married Aileen S. Pettit, and he also served during WW I. He retired on 1936 Feb. 1, and lived in Norfolk, Va., where he was stationed for most of his years in the Navy, and where he died on 1956 Oct. 23. He and his wife had several children.
