United States. Navy. General Board
Variant namesThe General Board, a panel of serving naval officers, was created in 1900 to act as an advisory committee to the secretary of the navy. These officers studied and issued recommendations on matters involving naval technology, strategy, and policy. In 1917 the board began conducting hearings to obtain expert testimony on the questions it considered.
