Von Brieson, Hans, b. 1876.

Arthur von Briesen was born in Germany and emigrated to America in 1858; a former architect and U.S. Civil War veteran, he became one of the founding partners of the law firm of Briesen & Knauth, later Briesen & Schrenk. His Brooklyn-born sons Fritz and Hans von Briesen both attended Harvard College, became lawyers and worked at the firm. The firm, and especially Arthur von Briesen, were noted for their work with the German Legal Aid Society on behalf of German immigrants.
