Ogden, David L. (David Longworth), 1792-1863
Variant namesDavid Longworth Ogden was born on October 6, 1792, the son of Jacob Ogden (1749-1825) and Jerusha Rockwell. He had seven surviving siblings: Catharine (1773-1852), Anna (1775-1825), Jerusha (1777-1854), Clarissa (1779-1794), Jacob (1782-1812), Elizabeth M. (1784-1841), and Abigail (1786-1862). After graduating from Yale College in 1814, he studied theology at Andover Theological Seminary and in New Haven until 1817. On October 31, 1821, he was ordained at the Congregational Church in Southington, Connecticut, and he later preached at Whitesboro, New York (1836-1844), and Marlborough, Massachusetts (1848-1850). In 1850, he retired to New Haven. Ogden married Sarah Amanda Judson (d. 1890) on January 14, 1824, and they had five children: Catharine Amanda (ca. 1825-1834), Julia Elizabeth (ca. 1827-1896), Abigail (b. ca. 1830), Sarah Judson (ca. 1833-1834), and David Judson Ogden (1837-1891). David Longworth Ogden died on October 31, 1863.

David Longworth Ogden was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1792. He graduated from Yale College in 1814, studied at the Theological Seminary in Andover, Massachusetts, and was licensed to preach in 1817. He served as pastor of the Congregational Church, Southington, Connecticut, 1821-1836; the Presbyterian Church, Whitesboro, New York, 1836-1844; and the Union (Congregational) Church, Marlboro, Massachusetts, 1848-1850. He retired to New Haven, Connecticut, in 1850.
