Viorst, Judith

Judith Viorst was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1931. She received her B.A. from Rutgers University and has worked as a journalist, poet, and writer of books for adults and children. Many of her children's books present a humorous view of families based on her own family life. Judith Viorst is a popular and acclaimed poet and author, probably best known for her delightful children's books. These works, which are often autobiographical, and frequently feature her three sons, Anthony, Nicholas, and Alexander, show a gift for addressing serious problems with humor and insight. She has also published adult poetry, nonfiction, and teleplays, and was a regular columnist for Redbook magazine.
