Bertha Glidden Bradt was active in DeKalb, Illinois women's organizations and did extensive genealogical research.

Her husband, Samuel Ellsworth Bradt (1861-1938), was a DeKalb businessman and banker. He is best known for his work on the Illinois Highway Commission (1913-1917) and as State Superintendent of Highways (1917-1921).
