Women's organization founded in Wilmington, Del., 1889, for community service and self-improvement of its members; in 1892, the club erected a building on Delaware Ave., designed by Minerva Parker Nicholas; by 1894 the club had almost 500 members. A Junior Section for younger members existed between 1924 and 1966; first women's club in Wilmington and was a vital force in the community for many years, offering a full range of activities for its members and taking an active role in the community.
