Historic Cherry Hill

Hide Profile

Robert Sanders was an Albany merchant who ran a general store during the mid-eighteenth century. He also served in the commissary during the French and Indian War. The account book of the store and the letterbook of letters written during the war provide fine examples of Albany Commerce, and the movement of military supplies during the French and Indian War. Sander's daughter Maria married Philip Van Rensselaer, establishing his link to the Van Rensselaer family. Sanders died in 1765.
