Tom Lilley, a Harvard College graduate, joined the Ford Motor Company as part of the finance staff in 1948. He was named Assistant Divisional Controller of Ford Division in 1951 and Product Planning Manager of Ford Division in January 1953. In early 1954, he became Assistant General Manager of Ford International Division. In 1957 he was elected a Vice President of the company and named General Manager of Ford International Division. In that capacity he directed export and import operations and dealt with concerns and interest in overseas branches, subsidiaries, and associated companies. Lilley became Vice President of Ford International Staff in 1960 and Vice President, Canadian Overseas Group in 1965.
