Troy, Paddy, 1908-1978
Variant namesCommunist trade union leader. Signed on as ordinary seaman on the "Eucla" in 1924 and joined the Seamen's Union. Subsequently became a member of the Coastal Dock Rivers and Harbour Works Union and was Secretary of that Union and its successors for 25 years. Retired from the Maritime Workers Union in 1973. Became Communist Party member in 1924. Imprisoned for his political beliefs in 1940. Travelled to USSR and was active in the USSR-Australia Society. Instrumental in the foundation of the Trades and Labour Council in 1963.
