Starrsville General Store (Newton County, Ga.)
The Starrsville General Store, a mercantile business founded in the early 1830's, was located in the Starrsville Community near Covington, Georgia. Formerly part of Henry County, the area is now in Newton County. Also known as "Starr Store" after its founders who were members of the Starr family, the business also housed a lodge hall where temperance and other groups met. The first local distribution of mail in 1836 originated from the store which later shared its quarters with the Starrsville Post Office.
