The Water Resources Management Commission (1965-1975), composed of five members each from the House and Senate appointed by the Speaker and the president pro tempore, and ten gubernatorial appointees, was to study water pollution and flooding problems in areas adjacent to Wisconsin, and develop a compact with that state for legislative consideration. The Water Resources Management Commission was replaced by the Water Resources Commission (1975-1984). Composed of three Senate members appointed by the president pro tempore, two Senate members appointed by the minority leader, three house members appointed by the Speaker, two House members appointed by the minority leader, and eight public members with two each appointed by the Senate president, Senate minority leader, House Speaker, and House minority leader, the commission's purpose was to study state and local waterway progress and problems; drainage; flood control; water pollution; water resources and report its findings annually to the General Assembly. It was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984.
