The Adams family was long prominent in Colorado government and politics. William and Alva Adams moved to Colorado from Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, with their parents in 1871. Alva Adams was governor of the state for three terms; his nephew Alva B. Adams was a U.S. Senator from Colorado. William Adams, Democrat, served as governor of Colorado from 1927-1933.
