Haynes, Thomas, 1832-1883?
Thomas Haynes emigrated to Australia in 1852, and was employed as a grocer's assistant in Melbourne until 1859, when he took up farming. From 1863 until 1871 he held various offices, including those of Secretary, Surveyor and Engineer, in the Shire of Wyndham, later Werribee. From 1871 until 1872 he was Secretary, Treaurer and Engineer of the Shire of Alberton, and in 1872 he became Borough Surveyor and Engineer of Collingwood.
