At the age of 18, Martha Elizabeth (Maybury) Wampler a native of Richmond, VA, studied violin with C. Roland Reasoner for two years (1946-1948) at the New England Conservatory. She returned to NEC in 1951-1952, studying violin with Frank MacDonald, as well as taking courses in orchestra and solfege. Wampler received her undergraduate degree in mathematics in 1950 from Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, MA. In 1962, Wampler earned her M.A. in Music from California State College, Long Beach. In addition, Wampler studied violin at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and the Claremont Graduate School, Claremont, CA. In Europe, Wampler studied at the Orff-Institute, Mozarteum, Salzburg in 1963-1964 and at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich in 1964-1965 under a Fulbright-Hays Gramt. Wampler worked as an Elementary Instrumental Teacher in Bellflower, CA.
