Hedlund, Marilou.
On February 23, 1971, Marilou Hedlund was one of the first alderwomen to be elected to the Chicago City Council. She also was the first woman to receive the endorsement of the Democratic Organization of Cook County for alderman. The 48th Ward was a lakefront ward and the most diverse ward in the city, racially, ethnically, and economically.
