Unionist woman living in Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, and Tennessee. Daughter of a Vicksburg Unionist James Shirley and wife of John Eaton, Union General, District of Tennessee Freedmen's Administrator, editor of the Memphis Post (1866-1867), President of Marietta College (1886-1891), and President of Sheldon Jackson College (1895-1899).
