Born in Arkansas, Glenn D. Overman grew up in Oklahoma and gradutated from Central State University (Oklahoma) in 1937. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the South Pacific. Returning to school arter the war, he completed his graduate studies in 1954 with his doctorate at Indiana University. He served as dean of the School of Business at Oklahoma City University before coming to Arizona State University as dean in 1956. When he retired as dean in 1981, he had succeeded in building one of the largest business schools in the world. He continued to teach for some years after that, and is now retired and living in Tempe.
