Spann family.

Hide Profile

The Spann family evidently came to Ala. from S.C. about 1833, eventually settling in both Lowndes Co. and City of Mobile (Spring Hill). The 1850 census indicates that the patriarch, James G. Spann, amassed a substantial number of slaves. James had five sons and two daughters (James G., Edward, Ransom Davis, Charles, John, Mary, and Eleanora).
