Allégret, E. (Elie)
Marc Allégret, a French screenwriter and filmmaker, was born in Basel, Switzerland and trained as a lawyer. After travelling in French equatorial Africa in the mid 1920s with André Gide, Allégret chose to pursue a career in the film industry. He directed his first feature-length film, Mam'zelle Nitouche, in 1931 and went on to write numerous scripts and direct more than fifty films.
