Booth, Mary Devlin, 1840-1863
Variant namesMary Devlin Booth was born in Troy, New York, the daughter of a merchant. She was well-educated, and achieved early success on stage, first in singing parts, later in dramatic roles. She met and later married Edwin Booth, and their marriage, although short-lived, was quite happy.
