Nurkse, Ragnar, 1907-1959
Variant namesRagnar Nurkse (1907-1959) was a leading international scholar in the fields of international economics, international finance and economic development. He was an important figure in economic development theory as an early advocate of the "balanced growth" doctrine. He served in the League of Nations from 1934 to 1945 and taught economics at Columbia University from 1945 to 1958.
