Joseph Ray "Jay" Broadbent and Lorna Siddoway Broadbent were married on 11 September 1936 in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City. Both were graduates of the University of Utah and active in the LDS Church. Joseph Broadbent was in the livestock business, producing both sheep and cattle, and he was involved in various livestock associations, including the National Wool Growers Association, the Utah Wool Marketing Association, the Utah Wool Growers, Imperial Valley Labm Feeders, Utah Livestock Production Credit Association, and the American Sheep Producers Council of Denver. Lorna was active in the PTA.
