Westchester County (N.Y.). Land Records Division.
The Commissioners of Partition were appointed by the Governor of the Colony of New York to partition the estate which had once belonged to Caleb Heathcote and which lay in what is today Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, and Harrison. The purpose of the partition was to make possible "the more effectual collection of His Majesty's quit rents" from Heathcote's heirs.
