Fishback, William P. (William Pinckney)
Variant namesA native of Batavia, Ohio, Fishback moved to Indianapolis in 1857 and worked as a lawyer. In 1858 and 1860 he was elected prosecuting attorney for Marion and surrounding counties. His law partners included A. Hamilton Conner, Benjamin Harrison, and Albert G. Porter. From 1870 to 1874 Fishback worked as editor of the Indianapolis JOURNAL and the St. Louis DEMOCRAT. He returned to Indianapolis and law in 1874, serving as Clerk of the U.S. Courts and Master of Chancery.
