Sarah Ernestine Howard, 1892-1942
Sarah Ernestine Howard, physician, grew up in a medical family. Her mother, Margaret Emily (Pagelson) Howard, was a doctor and her father, Herbert B. Howard, was director of the Massachusetts General Hospital and the first director of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. SEH was graduated from Wellesley College in 1911 and entered Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1913. She was House Officer and Assistant in Medicine, 1917-1919, and was an intern at the MGH, 1919-1921.
