John Holt Rice (1777-1831); Presbyterian pastor in Richmond, Va.; taught both privately and at Hampden-Sydney College in Richmond, Va. and then at Hampden-Sydney's School of Theology (later known as Union Theological Seminary). In 1819 he served as Moderator of the General Assembly.

Benjamin Holt Rice (1782-1856); Presbyterian pastor in Petersburg, Va., New York City, Princeton, N.J., and Hampden, Va. In 1829 he served as Moderator of the General Assembly.
