Founded in 1853 as the Western Female Seminary; 1894, name changed to Western, A College and Seminary for Women; 1904, name changed to Western College for Women; 1971, name changed to Western College; men admitted in 1972; closed in 1974 and its land and buildings purchased by Miami University.
