Mujeres Latinas en Acción.

Hide Profile

Mujeres Latinas en Accion is the first social services organization in Chicago devoted to improving the lives of Latina women. In 1973 at a statewide conference, a group of Chicago women decided to form an organization designed specifically for Latinas. They incorporated as "Latina Women in Action" in 1975; changing to "Mujeres Latinas en Accion (MLEA)" in 1995. The main objective of MLEA is to provide social services to the Latina women in Pilsen; this is achieved through advocacy, education, training, referrals, and research. The organization serves also as a "voice for Chicago's Latinas on issues including immigration, access to healthcare and education, and reproductive rights."
