William Vincent McDermott, 1917-2001, AB, 1938, Harvard College; MD, 1942, Harvard Medical School, was Cheever Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. McDermott served as chairman of Harvard surgical services at Boston City Hospital and New England Deaconess Hospital for 22 years. His research focused on liver diseases, which produced advances in the treatment of hepatic problems, including liver transplantations.
