Biographical Note: Lewis A. Dexter was an author and political scientist.

He was born in 1915, educated at the University of Chicago (A.B.,1935), Harvard (A.M.,1938), and Columbia University (Ph. D.,1960). Dexter's varied career was spent in university teaching and in consulting, government and business. Dexter served as a consultant on many social science research projects and political campaigns, 1950-1960. Subjects of his research included the Reciprocal Trade Acts during the 1950s, civil defense issues, military policy, and the presidential campaigns of Adlai Stevenson in 1952, 1956. Lewis A. Dexter died in 1995.
