Merrill, Samuel, 1822-1899
Variant namesIowa's 7th governor. During the Civil War he served the 21st Iowa Infantry as a corporal. After the war he returned to McGregor, Iowa where he chosen to be the president of the First National Bank. He served two terms as governor (1868-1872).
