Elliott, Phoebe Waight, 1772-1855.
Widow of William Elliott II (1761-1808); mother of Phoebe Caroline Elliott Pinckney; grandmother of Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, Jr. (1812-1899), the recipient of this letter; Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, Jr. (b. 1812), was a graduate of the College of Charleston and first practiced law before being ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in 1836.
