Arthur L. Campa's father was killed by Poncho Villa in 1914. Campa went on to receive a B.A. (1928) and an M.A. (1930) from the University of New Mexico, before completing his Ph. D. at Columbia University (1940). He was professor emeritus in the Department of Foreign Languages, at the University of Denver, Denver, Colo.
