Biographical note: William Liggett was born Jan. 7, 1882 at the Vulture Mines near Wickenburg Arizona. Shortly after his family moved to Bisbee passing through Phoenix and Tombstone. Liggett and his father went into the transportation business at Naco, AZ They made regular trips between Naco, Arizona and Cananea, Sonora moving mail, passengers, and cargo between the locations. With the arrival of the railroad, Liggett moved to Cananea and provided a baggage contract with the railroad. In 1906, he witnessed first hand the Cananea labor strike and the first rumblings of the Mexican Revolution.
