Born in North Dakota in 1915, Douglas Sillers began farming near Moorhead in 1946. In 1962, he ran for the Minnesota House of Representatives as an independent. Elected, he served 10 years in the House, won office to the Minnesota Senate in 1972, and served 2 terms.
