Silverman, Louis Lazarus, 1884-
Variant namesLouis Lazarus Silverman (1884-1967) was born in a Russian village in what is now Lithuania. He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was eight years old, and received a B.A. and M.A. in mathematics from Harvard University. After earning his Ph.D. in 1910 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Silverman taught at Dartmouth College, the University of Tel Aviv, the University of Houston, and South Texas College. His research concerned divergent series.
